Nadastrom and Alan Wilkis make being snowed in not so bad
Mon, 8/02/10 – 13:03 | No Comment

Snowmaggedon, snowpocalypse, call it what you want but over the weekend we got a pumbled with one of the worst snowfalls the city’s ever seen. I think the official total was something around 28.5 inches. You know what that translates to? A whole lot of people going absolutely nowhere, myself included. With all this extra [...]

Bringing classic covers to clothes
Fri, 5/02/10 – 10:37 | No Comment

picture-7With books entering the digital age, we could be looking at the beginning of the end for eye-catching book covers. Luckily, Brooklyn based Out of Print is keeping the book cover relevant and they’re doing it in a new and different way. Out of Print is a small clothing company that takes some of the most iconic book covers and puts them on t-shirts. They currently offer 17 different books on shirt (in men’s sizes only right now). Some of the titles include Catch 22, Brave New World, Moby Dick. My favorite out of the set is Of Mice and Men. All shirts are only $28 dollars. Out of Print works carefully with the artists, publishers, and authors to ensure all the covers and licensed properly. And on top of all this, for every shirt sold Out of Print, along with partner Books for Africa, one book is donated to a struggling community. I’d buy a shirt for that reason alone. Check out the shirts and pick up your favorite book today! Shirts start shipping out on February 15th. And ladies don’t worry, they’re launching a women’s line in March.

New Justice track surfaces; album out later this year

It’s hard to believe that Justice’s † came out three years ago. With the exception of a handful of remixes, we really haven’t heard anything new from them since then. † is one of my all time favorite albums. So when I discovered late last night (thank you YANP) that Justice had released the first song of [...]

Yes Giantess make life awesome, remix Miley and Temper Trap

So what do Miley Cyrus and Temper Trap have in common? As of a few days ago, the answer was absolutely nothing. But thanks to Yes Giantess, the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and the sons of Australia now do. Yes Giantess released remixes of the 500 Days of Summer song and the song that [...]

Major Lazer announce “Lazers Never Die” tour

Major Lazer put out one of my favorite records, as well as some of the craziest videos, last year. I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve played “Keep It Goin’ Louder” since I first heard it. Yesterday Diplo and Switch announced dates for their US tour today. The two will be embarking [...]

Manoi Go’s incredible dancing robot

Well thanks to Engadget,  this lovely little surprise definitely just made my morning just a little more enjoyable. This dancing machine stands 34 centimeters tall and was developed by Japanese robotics masterminds Mr. GIY and Okamoto-san. The two even contacted professional dancers to tweak and perfect the robots moves. Don’t let Manoi Go’s height fool [...]

Making Time gives back with Cold Cave

This Friday Dave P. and friends return to Voyuer (the newly redesigned and renamed Pure) for their monthly Making Time party. This month they bring dark synthpop locals Cold Cave along with all the usual resident djs. And as a little thank you to everyone who have supported Making Time over the past year, the [...]

Ghostland Observatory set to make you sweat tonight

Tonight Ghostland Observatory bring their incredible light show and electro-funk beats to the Trocadero. The Austin duo comprised of Aaron Behrens and Thomas Turner have been making their way around the country since late September, and with some interesting routing too. (In the span of three days they played LA, Chicago, and Anaheim, in that [...]

First glimpses of Time’s digital magazine

It should come to no surprise that the print industry is still trying to find itself in the digital age. Many magazines have stopped issuing new physical copies and a number of newspapers have gone bankrupt. More and more readers are abandoning magazines and newspapers in favor of reading the content on the company’s websites. [...]

Live Nation, Apple team up to bring downloadable concerts to iTunes

Not too many positive things come to mind when thinking about Live Nation. Actually, I can’t really think of any. But that all changed Tuesday when Apple launched the “Live Nation presents” section in iTunes. Live Nation, the largest concert promotion company out there, puts on around some 22,000 concerts a year. In roughly 80 [...]
