It’s gorgeous outside and suppose to get up to around 50, tt’s First Friday, and there’s a ton of stuff going on tonight. Live music wise, both the Cymbals Eat Guitars and RJD2 shows are sold out. Local favorites (who will begin working on their new album in the next couple of weeks) Man Man come to the Troc and Hezekiah Jones and the Spinning Leaves play down at the Fire. And if you’re looking to hear some music from classic video games, head over to the Blockley to see Agent Moosehead play a special set of themes and songs from games like Meteroid and Mega Man. Out of all of these shows though, Man Man’s going to be the show to see tonight. If you’re looking to get your dance on, Baroque celebrates their one year anniversary at Liberties and PYT’s Materials Girls party is going with a Spice World theme. Whatever you do, just make sure you take advantage of the weather today and tonight!

Holy crap there’s a lot to do tonight. Lots of good music and one hell of a party at Silk City too. One of my new favorite local bands Golden Ages is playing down at the Ox. There are two awesome shows in Fishtown, Title Tracks at Kung Fu Necktie and Sondre Lerche at Johnny Brendas. And last but not least, Rogue Wave plays the Church tonight. But topping all of these is Mo Money No Problems tonight. Sammy Slice and Cool Hand Luke bring Roxy Cottontail down to Silk City for a live performance and dj set. To make the deal even sweeter, they’re giving away Jameson until it runs out. Homeboys get there early, you’ll have to pay after 11pm.

Yesterday Hulu premiered it’s first original program, a reality show entitled If I Can Dream. The show follows five aspiring, young individuals as they try to make it in Los Angeles. The group will live in a house rigged with 50 cameras that will broadcast content around the clock. Original huh? While the premise may be nothing new, the idea behind it is. The mastermind behind the show is Simon Fuller (Pop Idol, American Idol). If I Can Dream sets itself apart from other online shows by having a more “network television show” feel to it.

New episodes of the program air every Tuesday morning on Hulu. Users can also go to ificandream.com to access the live feeds from around the house, as well as a plethora of other goodies. Upon going to the main page, users can choose between watching the latest episode, watching live content, submitting their own audition videos to be the next person in the house, or going to each of the different stars’ social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Myspace). The site is sleek and easy to navigate. Each of the sections open up new pages within the site. The most interesting is the page where viewers can watch the different live feeds of the house. It page is initially set up with a 360 view of the outside of the house with thumbnails from each room. Small text bubbles pop up above the thumbnails to show which housemate is in which room, as well as any guests of the house. On the bottom of the screen is a small scroll bar where different highlights and events move across. The time and temperature in Los Angeles are also on the bar. There are also small pictures of the housemates “sitting” on top of the scroll bar. Moving the mouse over each one shows the user where the person is and links to other content about them. Can’t make up your mind on which camera to watch? You can watch all the videos or have one randomly selected for you, along with an archive of them too.

Overall I think the idea is great. It’s like a round the clock Real World where the housemates are active with their viewers. They frequent each of their social networking accounts. The show has it’s own station on i heart radio which streams different songs that the housemates listen to. The amount of interactiveness is almost too much, but it’s right on par with the way the internet is heading. With an idea this intense, I could see this as being the perfect show that could launch internet shows. It’ll be interesting to see how this show pans out but with someone like Simon on board, I have a good feeling that this thing will be a success. Check out the site here.

No more show cancellations or worries of going outside and walking through inches of snow to get somewhere. With that being said, there isn’t too much going on tonight. Somehow Muse got big enough to play the Wachovia Center, not sure when or how that happened. R5 host Denmark’s Efterklang at the Sanctuary tonight, which makes for a lovely alternative to Muse. Finally a day that isn’t holiday (or at least one that I don’t know of). This all feels a little foreign to me now. I don’t have that security blanket to hide behind anymore. But never the less, we will move on. Lots in store for tonight, I don’t even know where to begin. Normally I would say that Mo Money No Problems would be the highlight tonight, but Metropolis is celebrating their one year anniversary tonight. Head over to the Barbary tonight for that. As for live music, Mission of Burma, VV Brown, Citizen Cope, and Mos Def are in town tonight. Out of all of those, Mos Def is the top choice.

Also let’s give it up for Sadie, winner of this year’s Dog Show. You go girl!
