Nadastrom and Alan Wilkis make being snowed in not so bad

bumbleSnowmaggedon, snowpocalypse, call it what you want but over the weekend we got a pumbled with one of the worst snowfalls the city’s ever seen. I think the official total was something around 28.5 inches. You know what that translates to? A whole lot of people going absolutely nowhere, myself included. With all this extra free time, I went exploring the internets in search of new music and managed to come across two remixes that I have been playing nonstop ever since.

The first one comes to us from Alan Wilkis. Wilkis takes his turn at remixing Yeasayer’s first single, “Ambling Amp”. Yes I know, everyone and their mother have taken a shot at it but Wilkis’ is one that stands out. For anyone whose heard his other remixes, this one has that 80s synth sound that can be found on all the rest. The synths are fun and bouncy, and Wilkis brings the song’s percussive feel out even more. But compared to his other remixes, this one sounds more complete and whole. When switching between some of his earlier works and this one, you can definitely see the growth and progression. I’ve loved everything he’s done so far and can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. If you haven’t heard of any of his other remixes, I highly recommend making your way over to his site now.

The second song is from DC’s Nadastrom, which is the moniker Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom go by when they join forces. The duo has remixed Udachi’s new single “P-Funk Skank” and all I can really say about the track is holy shit. If you want to turn your walk out in the snow into an epic journey up Mt. Everest or a battle with an Abominable Snowman , just put this song on.
